The 10th Siberian International
Marathon (SIM) was held on August 7th, 1999, Omsk, Russia.
As it was the jubilee one the organisers tried their best to make
this sport competition unforgettable for all runners, regardless
of their age, sex, and distance they run. Everyone can find a distance
for himself: a marathon, 10 km fun-run, the mini-marathon for children,
distance for roller-skaters, the ekiden (marathon relay-race).

Marathon program
|
The marathon program
began on the day before the race with the beautiful Opening Ceremony.
The participants were welcomed by the Governor of Omsk Region. Different
folk-bands, singers, sport groups took part in the Opening Ceremony.
The next day was the
Race Day and it was full of surprises. At first, the race
was leaded by the South-African runners. They showed their strength
and their professionalism and for approximately 30 km they were
leaders in the race. However, Russian runners didn't give up and
at last Mikhail Khobotov outstripped our foreign guests and became
the winner of the marathon.
